La vie dans le jardin

In Spring we are excited to see all of the new life in our world. Let's celebrate the joys of Spring by singing a couple of songs in French from one of Kenwood's favorite elementary school musicals.

Spring is an exciting time of year in nature. As the weeks pass we see new life springing up all over the place. Take time to walk around your neighborhood, a park, or even your own home each week in the spring and notice the changes as they happen. From tiny sprouts from the ground to little buds on trees to fat robins searching for worms there is so much to see!

My robin friend, "Charlie." He finds me every spring when I'm

working in my flower beds. I toss him tasty worms to snack on and he follows me all around my yard.

"Couper les mauvaises herbes" - aka "Cut the Weeds"

In the Spring of 2019 the first and second graders of Ecole Kenwood performed the musical: "La vie dans le jardin." A favorite song from this show is "Couper les mauvaises herbes."

This energetic tune tells everybody to "put on your gloves because we're going to do some work in the garden."

"Donnez-Vous?"

Will you give what is needed to grow a beautiful flower?

The beauty of nature is something so special. In this song we are told to remember the seeds growing in the garden. We are reminded we can even compare children to the seeds in the garden, always growing up and growing stronger. We are asked "will you give what is needed for a flower to grow up strong and beautiful?" We should ask ourselves always what we are giving to our world to make it a better place.

Can you think of another idea to compare to seeds growing in the garden? How about a butterfly? A butterfly goes through a great transformation from its start to its finish. Or maybe a tadpole as it grows through the stages of life to a frog...
